During public comment, Ellen Bridal (speaker 7) representing the Historical Society of Old Northfield and the Palmer House Museum detailed recent donations, a window project and the loss of the house furnace; she said the group raised some funds but still needs roughly $4,000 to complete furnace replacement.
Council had Ordinance 46 on the agenda to appropriate $1,000 to the historical society this year; councilors noted the society is a 501(c)(3), that prior appropriations were typically $500, and that last year’s approved $500 had not been delivered until staff located the missing check. The ordinance passed on the record and staff said the funds will help ensure heat and water restoration at the Palmer House.
