Council votes to join national opioid settlement; small discount‑drug payout offered

Council adopted Resolution 41 on July 23 authorizing the mayor to accept terms of a discount‑drug maker’s participation in national opioid litigation settlements. Director Gudetti told council the city was notified roughly two weeks earlier and that the company is offering “a little over $5,000 to the city.”
Gudetti said participation would be subject to the same restrictions used for earlier opioid settlements and that the deadline to notify the company is Aug. 1. Council moved, seconded and adopted the resolution by voice vote; staff noted the amount is modest but, consistent with previous settlements, restricted in how it may be used.
