Macedonia’s city council on July 23 adopted two emergency ordinances ratifying collective bargaining agreements that cover police dispatchers and patrol officers and sergeants for 2026–2028. Mayor Molnar said negotiations were “very long” but that all parties reached agreement and the council moved to adopt the measures by title and post them according to law.
The dispatch contract (Ordinance 39) and the patrol/sergeants contract (Ordinance 40) were introduced, offered for all three readings by title, and passed at the meeting. Chief Yakapovich (speaker 15) and other department leaders were on hand; the mayor thanked the employees and said the contracts reflect a difficult negotiation process that resulted in a settled outcome. “Happy to move forward,” Mayor Molnar said after describing the work that goes into bargaining.
Council conducted part of its bargaining review in an executive session earlier in the meeting under Ohio Revised Code 121.22(G)(1) and (G)(4), then returned to the public record and voted on the ordinances. The council’s action implements the terms described at the meeting; the specific wage and benefit terms were summarized by staff during the work session and referenced on the record.
