Interim Emergency Management Authority Director Brian Varnadore asked the board to approve the purchase of a 40-foot goose neck trailer to transport all equipment necessary to respond to natural disasters and to set up an incident management system. Varnadore said the current trailer requires multiple trips and that a single larger trailer would allow all equipment to be carried in one trip.
He presented vendor prices: Big Tex Trailer World $20,189.00; Harvey Equipment Co. $20,400.00; All-American Trailer Connection $21,600.00. Varnadore recommended Harvey Equipment Co. for its local presence — "any service on the trailer could be completed here" — and extra features such as additional storage and a full-length torque tube, and asked that the item be added to the regular meeting agenda for formal approval.
