Mayor says Pine Lake Dam progressing; FEMA has obligated related recovery projects

Mayor Jeff Winecoff opened the June 18 Boiling Spring Lakes Board of Commissioners meeting by highlighting local infrastructure work, saying a preliminary engineer drawing for a proposed shopping center has been received and that the Pine Lake Dam project is moving forward with a projected completion by the end of the year. He noted weather remains a critical factor and that, if successful, the work would be about six months ahead of an earlier schedule that included a 10-month extension tied to PTC#8.
City Manager Gordon Hargrove updated the board on broader recovery work from recent TCA-related events, reporting that “all related projects have now been obligated by FEMA.” He said Stormwater Engineer Jim Stachura and his team are leading procurement for road and culvert repairs, that the pre-bid meeting went well, and that formal bids are expected soon. Hargrove also told the board that some internal planning steps are still being completed and that a problematic change order on the dam is being withheld until visible progress resumes.
