Ware County tax commissioner requests new staff to tackle rising delinquent taxes

Tax Commissioner Roger Collins told commissioners during the June 18 public hearing that delinquent tax collections are increasing and he needs an additional staff position to improve collection efforts. He also noted that his office receives a refund on advertising fees that is returned to his office budget.
Collins’ request was recorded in the minutes as part of the FY2027 budget presentation; the commission did not take a separate vote on the position during the hearing. The request will be considered along with the overall budget and related items when the board reconvenes for approval on July 13, 2026.
