Commissioners support 100%-funded grant to upgrade and add county radio towers

EMA Director Deni Stempowski asked the board to provide a support letter for a radio-tower grant that would fund upgrades to two existing towers and add two new towers in the county. Stempowski said the grant for the towers is 100% funded and therefore would not require county matching funds; she plans to apply for a separate grant to cover construction costs of the tower sites.
Commissioner Tony Cardwell moved to support the radio-tower grant application, Commissioner Todd Ewen seconded, and the motion passed. The board’s support will accompany Stempowski’s grant application; any future construction funding was described as the subject of a separate request.
