Insurers press Washington County to consider deputy body cameras as renewal condition

Zack Richards reported that two commercial insurance carriers have declined to offer renewal coverage to Washington County and that Travelers Insurance is reviewing options but has signaled it may require implementation of deputy body-worn cameras before issuing a plan.
Commissioner Todd Ewen encouraged Richards to reach out to Sheriff Miller about starting the body-camera process. Richards told the board he hopes to have renewal numbers available at the board's next meeting.
