At Item 11a the Rangely Town Council swore in Patrol Officer Raylyn Norman. Norman addressed the council and audience, saying the badge "is more than just a symbol of authority. It's a symbol of trust, responsibility, and service." Councilmembers welcomed the new officer and praised the department's investment in training.
In the police supervisor's report the department described an equipment failure: the station UPS (backup battery) experienced faults that caused repeated power interruptions in dispatch and burned door-access circuitry. Replacement batteries are on order and an installation by a certified technician is scheduled for the 30th. The supervisor said the department is hiring for a full-time officer (three applicants, two remain under consideration), described recent mutual-aid response to regional fires and noted ABLE de-escalation training and community outreach events.
