Council approves multiple grants and a signage request for Riverboat Ramp project

The Rangely Town Council approved several funding items to help complete the Riverboat Ramp project, including a Colorado Housing and Finance Authority grant for $30,355 and a Colorado Water Conservation Board grant for $33,275. Council members also approved a motion to submit a $36,655 grant request to U.S. Fish and Wildlife (the request looked favorable though the award had not yet been received) and accepted an AARP signage grant request for $4,000 to support project signage and informational panels.
Staff explained that project scope had been cut back because of delays in river approvals and that the newly secured funds are intended to pay for signage, terracing and other landscaping and interpretive elements that will make the site more attractive and useful. One council member asked whether county or other groups had produced similar signs in the past; staff said they would research which agencies previously provided the pictured signs.
Motions to approve the CHFA and CWCB grants passed on voice votes after short discussion. The council made a separate motion to approve the AARP signage request, which also passed. The US Fish and Wildlife request was described as a submittal that staff would pursue; the council approved the request to apply and to incorporate those potential funds into the project if awarded.
