Robbins, who noted she is celebrating 16 years in the job, listed upcoming events including a Backpack Giveaway at Freshley's on July 10, an Alzheimer's Walk on July 11, Movies at Elkin Theatre, and weekly cycling and running clubs at Blue Bluff.
Robbins reported the two-day Blue and White Festival drew "approximately 6,400," which she said made for "more than $100,000 splash on the local economy." The board approved dates for the 2027 festival (June 25-26, 2027) and authorized a $1,000 donation transfer from the Aberdeen Electric Department to the festival account. The board also approved use of the Aberdeen Park Recreation Gym on July 27 for a free back-to-school haircut event.
