Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation reports gains in school mental-health services and senior meals

Tammy Verhus, introduced as interim executive director of the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation, presented the organization’s latest results and operations to the Eden Plus City Council.
"Our mental health program has grown immensely," Verhus said, reporting the foundation served a total of 82 students this year: "62 at Enumclaw High School, 9 at Enumclaw Middle School, and 11 at Thunder Mountain." She said six students at EHS have "graduated from therapy," and the program showed an improvement in the average behavioral-intervention metric compared with the prior year. Verhus also reported a modest average GPA increase for students served.
On senior services, Verhus said the foundation currently serves about 66 seniors and has provided roughly 80-plus seniors year to date; she said the program delivers six meals weekly via three deliveries and that about 400 meals are prepared from scratch each week. "We have about 87 current volunteers," she added, praising staff and volunteers who prepare, shop for and deliver meals.
Verhus thanked the council and staff for the city’s support and invited follow-up questions, offering contact through the foundation’s staff. The presentation closed with the council thanking Verhus for the update.
