Parks Director Lina Hicks explained the council had previously authorized $15,000 and the resolution divides that amount: $8,500 for barriers lining the parade route, $2,500 to cover overtime for six additional city staff, and $4,000 payable to the Chamber for security and event staffing.
Hicks said the funds had already been authorized by council and the resolution simply clarifies how the money will be spent. A councilmember moved to approve the resolution, the motion was seconded, and the resolution passed on a voice vote.
The parade and the flagpole dedication at City Hall were part of the community events calendar staff presented; the city cited a $100,000 grant secured for related work on the flagpole and steps.
