WRA authorizes $765,000 FY27 operating cooperation agreement with Worcester City

The Worcester Redevelopment Authority on July 23 authorized an FY27 operating cooperation agreement with the City of Worcester for $765,000. Chair Pitcher moved the measure and the board approved it by roll call.
Staff presented the FY27 operating budget and said total operating expenses necessary for WRA were projected at $2,500,000, and that tenant revenue plus Federal Transit Administration preventive-maintenance funds reduce the city tax-levy requirement to an estimated $765,000. “You can see that the total operation, expenses, necessary for the WRA for FY '27 are projected to be 2,500,000,” staff told the board, adding the net cooperation request would be $765,000.
Board members had no substantive amendments during the roll call; the chair called for the vote and each member recorded a yes vote. The agreement is intended to fund operations at Union Station, with major line items including cleaning, grounds and snow removal, utilities, police details, and real-estate taxes on leased property.
The authority recorded the motion as approved and will incorporate the cooperation agreement into its FY27 budget and reporting. The board moved quickly to the related capital cooperation item later in the meeting.
