Unified Police names assistant chief; council seeks update on noise cameras and weekend enforcement

Unified Police told the council it has promoted Justin Hoyle to assistant chief and that he was ratified by the UPD board; the leadership said they plan to do more to demonstrate the value of shared services to member communities.
"I'm truly honored to serve this role," Hoyle said after being introduced. Chief leadership said the department will follow up with the council on noise-camera project status, noting the initiative has experienced setbacks; staff agreed to report on costs, training and potential shared-camera arrangements and to explore increased weekend and night saturation patrols for noise and speeding enforcement.
Council members and residents voiced support for more visible enforcement and discussed shared mobile units or a trailer-mounted camera to add an element of surprise. Staff said they would follow up with Christine (project lead) and provide the council with a clear update on next steps and funding.
