Parker council honors Ponderosa Mustangs after dominant state golf title

Parker Mayor Pro Tem John Dyack opened the meeting by inviting the Ponderosa Mustangs girls golf team to the dais to be recognized for winning the 2026 Colorado Class 4A state championship. Coach Matt Smith described a dramatic tournament in which the team finished the event 22 strokes ahead of nearest competition.
Coach Matt Smith singled out individual performances, noting that several players shot personal-best rounds at state and that Kaylee clinched the individual title in a playoff. "I couldn't be more proud of these girls," Smith said, describing how the team persevered through heavy wind and rain early in the tournament. Council member Barrington added that Coach Smith was also named coach of the year.
The council presented three certificates of recognition — one to the team, one to Coach Smith, and one to the individual champion — and invited players and staff forward for photographs. Mayor Pro Tem Dyack and council members praised the team as a point of local pride and encouraged the community to attend upcoming youth events the team and the school will host.
