Wentzville board approves CSIP update outlining academic, belonging and resource goals

District staff presented the CSIP update and the board voted to approve it. The plan organizes district priorities into three domains — academics, belonging and resources — with measurable goals and timelines.

On academics, staff listed four essential goals: attendance and engagement, curriculum and evidence-based practices, achievement and growth, and college and career readiness. Staff reported districtwide proportional attendance rose from 83.9% to 85.1% this year and set a target of 90% by the 2829 school year. "Our goal is to be at 90% by the end of the 2829 school year," a staff presenter said.

The curriculum target tracks progress through a multi-year writing cycle; staff reported curriculum updates increased from about 34% in 2024 to roughly 60% this year and said the district staggers curriculum writing to avoid overloading teachers. On achievement, staff described use of I-Ready and MAP assessments and said they plan to publish cohort- and grade-level breakdowns in the fall when more data are available.

Jera Labrad reviewed belonging goals (community engagement, relationships, student and staff well-being and collaborative climate), noting about 4,000 family survey respondents and staff voice increases. Amy presented resource priorities — staffing, finance and facilities — and highlighted stay interviews, planned mentorship and preventive facilities maintenance. Amy also announced the Samuelson Early Childhood Center will open in August with enrollment spaces available.

After board questions about data breakdowns, curriculum cycle timing and survey methodology, the board moved, seconded and approved the CSIP by voice vote.
