Public commenter questions bond math and urges repair over demolition

Shaper stated several numeric claims about the district's finances and enrollment: he said K–12 enrollment has held near 17,000 over eight years, that revenues rose "by $8,083,000,000 dollars or something over $4,000 per student" between 2021 and 2026, that county assessed valuation roughly doubled from $1.9 billion to $3.8 billion since 2018, and that district debt service "currently stands at about 340,000,000" through 2040. He also cited bond request figures and questioned the rationale for large new builds.
The board did not directly rebut the specific numeric claims during the public comment segment; staff later presented the district's facility assessment and bond rationale during the Prop O presentation.
