Clayton County schedules weekend back-to-school events ahead of Aug. 3 start

Dr. Douglas Hendricks Sr., interim superintendent and CEO of Clayton County Public Schools, told B103 listeners the district is holding four back-to-school events this weekend to help families prepare ahead of the first day on Monday, Aug. 3.
"We have it at four locations," Hendricks said. "One of those locations is Jonesboro High School. We also have it at Monday's Mill, Riverdale High School, and then we'll also be at Marlboro High School." The events, he said, give parents a chance to meet teachers, pick up supplies and meet community partners.
Hendricks framed the events as part of broader outreach efforts to ensure families can access services and feel welcomed into the school system. He said the gatherings will include information tables, partners offering services and activities for young children.
Hosts reminded listeners of the date and encouraged families to attend the events across Clayton County. "Back to school events happening this weekend all over Clayton County," the program noted, and Hendricks closed by urging residents to participate.
The district's first day of school is Monday, Aug. 3, and Hendricks emphasized the events are meant to reduce barriers by connecting families with school staff and community resources.
