EPEDC seeks grant authority; Prairie County signs MCEP depository designation but declines opportunity zone motion

Terra Burman of the Eastern Plains Economic Development Council asked the board whether EPEDC could apply for a five-year grant on behalf of Prairie County and discussed opportunity zone eligibility. Burman told commissioners the grant would not cost the county money and said the county would need to authorize an MOU; the board asked Burman to bring a memorandum of understanding for consideration. Burman also noted a July 7, 2026 deadline to participate in the opportunity zone.
Commissioner Keltner later moved to sign the Designation of Depository for Direct Deposit of MCEP funds for the Milwaukee Bridge; the motion passed with the board recorded as "all in favor." A separate motion to have the county join the Montana opportunity zone was made but received no second and thus did not pass, per the meeting minutes.
