The Prairie County Board of Commissioners selected members to serve on the Last Best Place Zoning District commission during its June 11 meeting. Commissioners read letters of interest and appointed Clint Grue and Dan Pike as the two district representatives. The board described a scoring system that would be used to select district members.
There was debate over which county officials should serve as the two elected-official members. Commissioner Devlin initially moved to appoint Clerk & Recorder Shari Robertson and County Treasurer Garrett Lapp; Garrett Lapp declined the appointment. Commissioner Dennis Teske argued for adding Tylene Eaton, the county health nurse, citing health and welfare expertise. A motion to include Eaton earlier failed for lack of a second; later in the meeting Commissioner Devlin moved to appoint Tylene Eaton and the board voted to appoint her to the zoning commission.
