The City of Owensville received one bid for the fiscal-year concrete contract and the Public Works Director, Derek Gruenloh, told the board the bid amounts "have increased by double" compared with prior years. The bid from MDC Concrete included curb and gutter at $38.00 per linear foot, swales and driveways at $76.00 per square yard, storm box inlets at $270.00 per vertical foot, sidewalks at $48.00 per linear foot and ADA ramps at $259.00 per square yard. Alderman Cathy Lahmeyer moved to accept the bid and Alderman Denise Bohl seconded; the motion carried without dissent.
Gruenloh and city staff said the budget has been adjusted to reflect the higher unit prices and that larger jobs will be bid out separately. The record does not include the prior-year unit prices for direct comparison; the minutes capture the director’s statement that unit costs rose materially this cycle.
