Germantown superintendent unveils draft vision, mission and three district goals for community feedback

Superintendent (speaker 1) presented two draft vision statements and two draft mission statements developed with a panel of students, teachers, a board member and PTSA representatives and asked the community to provide feedback over the coming year. She said the drafts are intentionally concise so they can guide district decisions and be easily remembered.
"We will empower every learner for future success by ensuring an innovative, inclusive, and impactful educational journey," the superintendent said as one suggested mission option she recommended adding the word "inclusive" to better align with the district's goals. She explained the district favored language like "welcoming" and "distinguished" to reflect community identity and aspiration.
The superintendent also outlined three draft district goals: (1) foster a culture of belonging that strengthens family and community partnerships; (2) empower learners and staff through innovative learning and professional development; and (3) lead intentionally with data-driven decisions to ensure long-term sustainability. She said principals and administrators will develop action plans tied to measurable outcomes and will present those in September.
Board members voiced support for emphasizing inclusivity. Chair (speaker 3) said the second mission draft "really does make it a stronger sentence," and the board agreed to allow printed materials to include the chosen wording while continuing to solicit comment.
The superintendent said the language is a living document intended to be revised and that posting drafts for community comment will guide final adoption. The district plans to use the statements in communications and goal-setting across buildings.
