Corps permit clears way for $7.3M Buffalo Rapids bridge mitigation; advertisement set for July 16

“June 10 last week, I got my last permit on this project from the corps of engineers,” S5 said, then added that “our chief of engineer at Western Federal signed off on the project and obligated the $7,300,000 to build the project.” The manager said the full contract package will be advertised July 16 and that the bid opening is tentatively scheduled for August 12; he also warned there is a 3–4 week internal review between handoff and advertisement for FAR clauses and other federal requirements.
Staff and commissioners discussed procurement timelines, bond verification and the window for in‑water work restricted by the Corps (which limits pier work until after July 16). The county requested that engineering and contract documents be distributed to local stakeholders and was told an external distribution list and advertisement notifications will be shared when available.
