The council voted to amend the general plan and change zoning on parcel 10-021-0003 (15 East Main) from RSF to Commercial City Center (CC).
Property owner Karen Johnson said the change will let the lot be marketed for mixed use (offices or small businesses) without an immediate application. Planner Mary Anne explained the CC district is intended for small-scale downtown retail and service businesses supported primarily by the local community; uses that attract outside dollars are welcomed but parking and design-review requirements could apply.
No public comments were offered during the hearing. A council member moved to grant the request consistent with the planning commission's recommendation; another council member seconded the motion and the council approved it by voice vote. The planner noted that required parking and any design review would be considered at the time a particular commercial use applied for the site.
Next steps: The zoning map will be updated and property owners or prospective tenants seeking a change of use will be required to show compliance with CC parking and design standards.
