The Cloverdale City Council on July 22 read proclamations recognizing July 2026 as Disability Pride Month and Parks & Recreation Month. Council member Marquez read the Disability Pride proclamation honoring the Americans with Disabilities Act anniversary and the value of inclusion.
The mayor read an email from Samantha Maloney asking the city to install communication boards in parks to help nonverbal residents and families communicate. The mayor said this is a feasible “simple fix” and directed staff to work with the parks superintendent and report on options. Parks superintendent Hector Galvin accepted the Parks & Recreation Month proclamation and described recent park improvements and upcoming projects, including expansions to open-space preserves and creation of a community garden.
Residents offered public praise for park staff and for maintenance of City Park and new open‑space areas. The council thanked park staff for stewardship and cross‑training efforts that improved response times and increased recreational offerings.
