Sean Jones was formally sworn in as Cloverdale’s police chief on July 22, promising to lead the department “with integrity, transparency, and accountability.” City manager Kevin Thompson introduced Jones and administered the oath of office before family, colleagues and residents.
Jones thanked outgoing Chief Chris Parker and city leaders and said he looked forward to working with department staff and the community. “Public safety is strongest when we work together with respect, transparency, and a shared commitment,” Jones said during his remarks. He closed by inviting residents to National Night Out on Aug. 4.
Council members and community members used the ceremony to thank Chief Parker for decades of service. Parker, who the council recognized for more than two decades in law enforcement, reflected on his career and thanked staff and family. “It’s the honor of a lifetime to serve as your chief of police,” he said, describing the pride he felt in community events and department teamwork.
The council paused the regular agenda for a five‑minute recess to allow officers and attendees to take photographs with Chief Jones and to continue the recognition for Chief Parker. No formal policy actions were taken as part of the oath and recognition items; the events were ceremonial and part of the council’s personnel and community‑recognition agenda.
