Architect walks committee through 3D model of new 9-1-1 center, highlights privacy and staff amenities

Presenter from Tecton (S3) shared a 3D model of the proposed Middletown Public Safety 9-1-1 Center and walked the committee through exterior and interior features.
The model showed landscaping and a modest public lobby with a graphic honoring George R. Dunn, a 16-person training room with multimedia capability, locker rooms and two bunk rooms with adjacent showers, a fitness room with outdoor access and a small kitchenette for staff. Presenter described a mother's room that will double as a decompression space for dispatchers and noted specific acoustic treatments for the call center and one-way glass on exterior windows to protect sensitive information on dispatch monitors.
Presenter also outlined site resiliency features: a generator in the back of the site with a manual transfer switch and a pull-off area sized for a trailer-mounted backup generator, server racks and communications equipment rooms with a clean-agent suppression system for fire protection, and layout changes to keep rooftop maintenance access separate from the main call floor. Committee members asked questions about sight lines, whether maintenance staff might be able to see into the call center from the patio, and the placement of electrical and communications rooms; Presenter clarified locations and inspection schedules for suppression tanks.
