Several traffic cases were resolved by negotiated pleas during the calendar. Jordan Simone Teasley agreed to a reduced speed finding after officers recorded 92 mph in a 65 mph zone; the court accepted a nolo plea and set a $300 fine (about $444 with surcharges) and allowed 60 days to pay. Ajani Farrington accepted a nolo plea after LiDAR recorded 67 mph in a 45 mph zone; the state recommended a $100 base fine (roughly $153 with surcharges). Treviance Raquel Swan entered a nolo plea that included 12 months probation, a $300 fine, and a required driver improvement course; the probation was to terminate upon completion.
Judge Hayward repeatedly reminded traffic defendants to consider the effect of pleas on driving records and licenses, especially for commercial drivers and drivers under 21. She provided procedural instructions for receiving sentencing sheets by email and urged defendants to use the Georgia Department of Driver Services for recognized driver-improvement courses. "Put a reminder in your phone so you don't miss that deadline," she told those who received payment schedules.
