The Three Oaks Village Council on May 13 authorized up to $4,500 for consulting services to explore senior housing opportunities under a proposal from SWSW Michigan.
Councilmember Joe Hinman presented the proposal and said representatives recently met with consultant Dan Buckenmeyer to discuss feasibility research, possible nearby properties, and development options intended to help aging residents remain in the community. Council discussed limited developable land within Village limits and the need for preliminary feasibility analysis before pursuing a specific development.
The motion to authorize expenditures not to exceed $4,500 passed on a 4–1 vote: Ayes — Thomas, Hinman, Springer, Graziano; Nay — Jones; Absent — Niemzyk, Kramer. Council directed staff to proceed with the feasibility work and return findings to a future meeting.
No property was identified at the May 13 meeting and no timeline for completion of the feasibility study was specified in the minutes.
