Selectboard approves $2.42M contract for Bristol West Waterline project

The Bristol Selectboard voted unanimously Feb. 23 to accept Munson’s bid of $2,422,563 for the Bristol West Waterline project and authorized the town administrator to sign the related contract documents.
Engineer Steve Palmer summarized the bid tabulation and noted some submitted packages were incomplete and therefore ineligible. Palmer recommended awarding the work to Munson, saying the bid was approximately $600,000 below his estimate. Selectboard members Ian Albinson and Jill Marsano explained that newly available Vermont Water Supply Revolving Fund (VWSRF) funding increases the likelihood the town would receive roughly 50% forgiveness of the VWSRF loan portion that the town accepts.
The board’s motion to accept Munson’s bid passed unanimously. Steve Palmer told the board a phasing plan should be available in about a week, which the town will use to schedule construction impacts and traffic control. The project team also reviewed traffic control considerations and noted that some bid packages lacked required documentation and therefore could not be considered in the evaluation.
Next steps include finalizing contract paperwork and circulating the phasing plan once it is complete.
