Stacy Goodhue, Carlisle City Library Director, told the council the library is managing a staff transition after the retirement of Sherry Schlundt and the start of Emma Haynes in youth services. Goodhue said programs are up about 20% from last year and participants are up 11% while checkouts are down roughly 2%. Summer reading runs June 1–July 31 and signups are up about 2% so far.
Goodhue also reported the library board is reviewing policies (required every three years) and is updating its strategic plan (every five years). Separately, City Administrator Deven Markley described a proposed building change order to replace deteriorating brick walls with metal paneling on two original walls for structural reasons.
As part of the consent agenda the council approved hiring Emma Haynes as Youth Services Librarian at $18.50 per hour and approved an LFI moving-services quote not to exceed $10,880 to support library relocation activities. The consent motion carried on a 5-0 roll call vote.
