Board approves $600 stump‑grind removal behind 11453 Heritage Point Drive

The Heritage Pines Community Development District Board of Supervisors on Feb. 18, 2025 approved a $600 estimate from A‑Z Tree Service, LLC to remove a tree and grind the stump behind 11453 Heritage Point Drive. The motion, made by Michael Walsh and seconded by Stephen Putman, passed unanimously with all supervisors voting in favor.

Resident Don Brothers had told the board the tree and an associated debris pile on CDD property were hurricane‑damaged, invasive, and posed a hazard to nearby homes. Board members inspected the report; Supervisor Stephen Putman photographed the site prior to the meeting. The agenda listed three A‑Z proposals: Clean Up and Trim ($350), Remove with Stump Grind behind 11453 Heritage Point Drive ($600), and Forestry Mulch Around Pond ($5,475); the board approved the $600 stump‑grind option for the specific address.

District Manager Chuck Adams explained the difference between the A‑Z and Environmental Solutions approaches, saying A‑Z plans to use a forestry mulcher and will grind material while Environmental Solutions would use more hand work and selective herbicide treatment. Chair Kathleen Lonergan read the ES scope for a separate wetlands task, noting ES would not remove trees larger than 5 inches in diameter and would focus on hand‑pulling and selective cutting where mechanical equipment cannot operate.

The board asked staff to follow up on remaining debris or hazard issues at other properties and confirmed that more extensive perimeter work for wetlands NWRA‑33 will proceed under the amended ES proposal.
