Heritage Pines board approves additional cleanup at Area 33, notes wetland considerations

The Heritage Pines CDD board approved a proposal for additional cleanup at Area 33 at its Dec. 10 meeting. The work, requested by Supervisor Carol Vaughan, includes perimeter cleanup, removal of dead trees, mulching and an optional scope to trim the dry retention slope with weed whackers.
District Engineer Kurt Heath advised the board that "there is a natural wetland in the center of the area" and that a separate excavated retention area exists on the western side; he noted the south side is difficult to mow with equipment. Grounds superintendent Tim Gatz told the board that wood chips are free and additional mulching will occur in early spring. The board approved the proposal on a motion by Michael Walsh, seconded by Stephen Putman; the record notes the invoice will be paid upon completion.
Ms. Vaughan also raised concern about dwindling native grasses at Hole 2; Mr. Gatz said he will inspect the area and advise. The minutes record no additional funding allocation beyond the approved proposal and contingency note related to invoice payment timing.
