Heritage Pines board approves $19,200 contract switch for pond algae treatment

The Heritage Pines Community Development District board voted to approve a $19,200 contract with Premier Lakes, Inc. to provide pond algae treatment, replacing SOLitude. District Manager Chuck Adams told the board the change represents "an overall cost saving of $3,200 per year when compared to the SOLitude contract." On a motion by Supervisor Michael Walsh, seconded by Supervisor Carol Vaughan, the proposal was approved with all in favor.
Adams said he would initiate SOLitudes 30-day termination clause so Premier Lakes would commence service on Dec. 1, 2024, and he reviewed the scope of services included in the proposal. Resident Susan Napolitano asked what chemical SOLitude uses; Adams said a copper-based product targets algae and that any odor is from algae degasification and typically lasts a couple of days. The board recorded no abstentions or objections.
