The Dawson County Planning Commission on Jan. 20 recommended approval of ZA 25-11, a rezoning and special-use request to bring an existing business into compliance at 6495 Highway 9 South. The applicant, Robert Stanley Hood, seeks to rezone 5.25 surveyed acres from RA (Residential Agriculture) to C-RB (Rural Business) and to obtain a special use to allow additional outdoor parking (Parcels 088 108 001 & 088 109).
Clint Cowart, speaking for the applicant, told the commission the intent is to bring the current office and the adjacent parcel into compliance and to allow more storage of equipment for the business. Cowart said the applicant does not plan any expansion beyond storage and parking. There were no speakers in favor beyond the representative and no speakers in opposition during the public hearing.
After closing the hearing, the commission voted 3-0 to recommend approval to the Board of Commissioners (motion by Steve Sanvi, seconded by Neil Hornsey). The recommendation means ZA 25-11 will be considered by the Board of Commissioners; any final zoning action and related permits remain subject to that body's public process and county permitting rules.
