The SPLOST VIII Intergovernmental Agreement (Exhibit A) submitted at the Jan. 15 joint meeting itemizes Dawson County projects totaling $67,400,000. The county project list includes an Eastside Sports Complex and Park (associated line references debt service tied to up to $16,000,000 in GO bonds with an estimated $15,100,000 allocation), law enforcement vehicle purchases estimated at $5,000,000, county road resurfacing and culvert improvements at $5,200,000, transfer station/recycling center improvements at $3,200,000, and public safety vehicle purchases including fire engines ($2,700,000) and ambulances ($2,600,000).
County Manager Joey Leverette read the county's project list aloud during the joint meeting. The IGA language also establishes procedures for allocation of any SPLOST overage and special procedures that allow up to $700,000 in reallocation to law enforcement vehicles under specified conditions. The county retains priority authority to sequence and reallocate funds among county projects consistent with Article 3(f) of the agreement.
