Legal director: $24,000 grant noted; recent $200,000 amendment changes published draft totals

During the legal department presentation, council members questioned a line appearing as $24,000 and asked whether it represented grant funding. "That was a grant," the legal representative said in response to the council's question, adding that the fund was listed as available.
The legal representative also explained that the posted draft budget did not reflect a June amendment. "Your current budget is showing $6.24 for legal. But a couple of weeks ago, we did a $200,000 amendment. So legal is actually at $8.24. This just hasn't been updated because this was the date it was pulled back in June," he said, characterizing the net effect as roughly a wash.
Council members were advised that if the grant funds materialize next year, staff would bring a budget amendment to recognize them, and the revenue would be added at that time. The council did not make any immediate appropriations during this portion of the work session.
