County staff to add transfer-station generator purchase to next agenda for approval

County staff introduced the purchase of a backup generator, including a propane tank and electrical work, for the Dickinson County transfer station and asked the commission to add the procurement to next week’s agenda for formal approval. Billy, the county’s fleet manager, said three contractors recommended a 28-kilowatt generator primarily to preserve herbicide inventory and to keep the scale house and server systems operational during outages.

Commissioners questioned whether the listed capacity was required and discussed whether the compactor would be powered; staff clarified the unit would run the scale house and related services but not the compactor. Staff stated the purchase would come from noxious-weed capital funds and aimed for installation before winter. The item was added to the next meeting agenda for a formal vote.
