Commission approves vacation of portion of Solomon Road after township petition

The Dickinson County Board of County Commissioners on the motion approved resolution 072326 to vacate and close a portion of Solomon Road between 3100 Avenue and 3200 Avenue in Flora Township, acting on a petition from the township. Chair led the motion, which passed by voice vote.

Landowners who spoke during the public hearing described the road as overgrown and impassable in places and said maintenance and a damaged bridge had left it unusable. Brandon Baffridge, who identified himself as a nearby owner, said he would "not complain about paying taxes" if the corridor were cleaned and made usable, but urged the township to coordinate cleanup before a closure.
