Cohasset’s City Council adopted Ordinance 52 on June 22, 2026, setting the posted speed limit to 25 miles per hour on several city streets identified for safety improvements. The ordinance applies to Lake Street from County Road 63 to Catherine Avenue, the entire length of Katherine Avenue, and River Road from Catherine Avenue to County Road 62.
Councilor Kevin Tinquist introduced the ordinance at a public hearing, citing a history of excessive speeding and use of the streets as shortcuts. After a call for public comment produced no opposition, the council voted unanimously among members present to enact the ordinance under Minnesota Statutes Section 169.14. The city plans to install eight new speed limit signs to reflect the change.
