Grand Ledge City Council voted unanimously July 13 to remove trees found dangerous at 912 Willow Hwy. The action follows a public hearing under City Code Chapter 16 — Environment, Article V (Trees), Division 2, Sections 16-396 through 16-398, during which the city outlined its notifications to the property owner and an arborist report recommending removal.
City Manager Adam Smith explained the city’s due diligence and that notifications sent to the property owner were returned as unclaimed. Resident Franca Rohdy, who lives at 912 Willow Hwy., requested the process be postponed; another resident, Craig Fedewa of 910 Old Post Rd., said a tree from the property had previously fallen onto his property. After council members debated postponement, closed-session consideration and the time afforded the owner to respond, Council Member Dave Logel moved to remove the trees, Council Member Don Willems seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
