Port Orange proclaims July Parks & Recreation Month; bond projects move into design

Wayne noted park projects are funded from a previously approved parks bond (about $30 million cited in the presentation) but cautioned that once built they will carry ongoing operating and staffing costs.
Council thanked parks staff for July 4 event work, praised the drone show, and the council discussed phasing and possible holding decisions depending on the outcome of the pending statewide property‑tax proposal. "We have $30,000,000 to build these parks," Wayne said, adding that council could delay shovel‑ready projects to see next steps on state revenues.
The proclamation was acknowledged with thanks and council took no formal budget action on the parks projects at this meeting; staff said they will return with more detailed schedules and grant award notifications as projects proceed.
