Butler council hears water and sewer operations update; Woodland Ave pump issues blamed on flushed wipes

Councilman J. Guzman told the Butler Mayor and Council on April 21 that routine maintenance and customer service work continues in the water department, and that painting of the borough's water tanks is scheduled to begin in June. He said hydrant replacement is a priority but will await the outcome of the municipal budget.
On sewer operations, Guzman said the primary cause of repeated pump station problems on Woodland Avenue has been flushed wipes. DPW crews are evaluating whether to replace the pump entirely or undertake a larger improvement to the station. "The primary cause of Woodland Ave pump issues is due to flushed wipes," Guzman said.
Guzman also reported a minor leak repaired on Myrtle Avenue and that DPW responded to an incident on Main Street to ensure adequate water supply. Council members did not take immediate formal action; Guzman indicated planned projects may proceed after budget decisions and directed DPW to continue assessments and provide cost estimates for repairs or station upgrades.
