City Manager Steve Forrester provided the City Manager’s report at the June 9 meeting, reviewing recent activity across departments and noting that "the Police Department roster is finally filled with the newest officer hired, and it has been a long time since we can say that." No questions followed his report.
During council reports, Mayor Jason Beebe said he had met the Abilene, Texas, mayor and discussed local interest in data center development, including off-site power generation tied to the grid. Beebe cautioned that "there is a lot of misinformation out there about how much water the data centers use, as compared to what they actually use," and councilors discussed natural gas and turbine generators in that context.
The remarks were informational; the council did not take formal action on data-center policy during this meeting.
