During the Dec. 23 workshop, Town Administrator Erin Braband told the council that Bearing Construction informed staff the influent bar screen would be rebuilt on-site instead of being sent to Florida for refurbishment. After discussion about warranty and scope, Commissioner Jeremy Newnam moved to change the award to Bearing Construction to fund a Parkson replacement at a cost of $189,451; Commissioner Walter Chase seconded and the council approved the motion unanimously.
Administrator Braband reported no change in price despite the change in repair location, and council members cited the increased warranty on a new Parkson screen as a reason for preferring replacement over on-site refurbishment. The council recorded no additional contingencies in the workshop minutes; staff will proceed with contract documentation and implementation steps for the replacement unit.
