Council approves grant application but maintenance, parking and lighting questions linger

Although the council voted to move forward with the grant application, several members and staff emphasized that maintenance and operational details must be resolved before state funds are released. Assistant Town Attorney Carly Landolfi said the draft joint-use agreement limits the Town’s post-construction responsibilities: "the Town’s responsibility ends when the project construction has been completed and turned over to the County." Commissioner Rose Potter recorded a conditional yes tied to that agreement.
Cheryl Lewis, the presenter, said the Little League will be responsible for field maintenance and facility upkeep. She also said the proposal does not include lighting "due to the cost" and that Talbot County is aware of parking issues and is "looking into" solutions. Those items will need to be clarified during joint negotiations with the County before any construction can begin.
