District counsel: opinion on Corkscrew Road ownership unchanged; village study underway

District Counsel Tony Pires said his opinion about ownership of Corkscrew Road (west of U.S. 41) remains unchanged after retrieving documents; the Village of Estero has engaged Johnson Engineering to inspect streets and the study will encompass both sides of Corkscrew Road.
District Counsel Tony Pires told the board that after retrieving documents his opinion on ownership and maintenance responsibility for Corkscrew Road west of U.S. 41 has not changed. Bob Schultz said the Village of Estero engaged Johnson Engineering to inspect streets, walkways and intersections to determine needed repairs; PSGRC President Neil Collins said town-hall discussions have focused on the U.S. 41 intersection and the east side of Corkscrew Road.
Mr. Wilhems confirmed that the Village's study will include the west side of Corkscrew Road as well. Mr. Pires and District Engineer Charlie Krebs provided an overview of the County's and Village's positions on ownership and maintenance responsibilities based on review of historical documents and memoranda. Mr. Pires said he will forward contact information for Apple Signs to Mrs. Adams.
