Residents raise drainage, tree and speed‑sign concerns at River Ridge meeting

During the public comment and supervisors’ requests portion of the meeting, residents raised several neighborhood maintenance issues. Ed Nowak asked for a response to his August 6, 2024 letter about the Pinehurst and Master drainage systems; District Manager Chuck Adams said he had not received the letter and asked Mr. Nowak to email it again. Anita Bachragh requested that a downed tree by River 9 Catch Basin #134 be brought upright and for the conservation area to be cleared; Mr. Willis asked her to send photographs so staff could review and address the requests if appropriate.
Christine Mantilia asked whether fire trucks might be allowed to draw water from the lakes to lower water levels; District Engineer Charlie Krebs said this is not typical, would likely pull plants and fish from the lakes, and "would also require approval from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD)." Larry Fiesel inquired about the speed sign project; Mr. Willis said Mr. Long is scheduling staff training and will provide an update at the next meeting.
