Bridgman City Council on July 13 took up Ordinance 2026-226 to regulate mobile food vendors and established an annual application fee of $50. Council Member Hahaj moved to introduce the ordinance for a first reading; after “lengthy discussion,” the council reached consensus to set a $50 annual application fee and then voted 5–2 on a revised reading to reflect that fee, with Council Members Blackwell and Boyd voting no.
The topic drew public comment from resident Mike Carlson, who told the council he was concerned about the impact of mobile vendors on brick-and-mortar businesses: “allowing food trucks to operate in Bridgman could negatively impact local businesses and result in revenue leaving the community.” Attorney Senica advised the ordinance would be revised for the second reading at the next City Council meeting to reflect the fee change.
